Clear Lake is located about 26 miles southeast of Houston near the south shore of Lavon Lake and about twelve miles southeast of McKinney in southeastern Collin County.
Over 50 years ago the space race led to the development of NASA’s Johnson Space Center (JSC). Ever since NASA’s arrival, business community and population have grown throughout the Clear Lake area, making Clear Lake a highly desirable place to live.
The Clear Lake/NASA area is located midway between Houston and Galveston, and encompasses about 125 square miles, bordered on the west by I-45 and the east by Galveston Bay. The population boasts nearly 200,000 residents in nine municipalities and unincorporated areas prosper within a highly diversified, balanced economic structure. Its strong base features aerospace, high technology, petrochemical, commercial fishing and boating industries. Tourist attractions and visitor-friendly businesses have promoted a tremendous growth in the hospitality and tourism sector in recent years.
